Visual Tour of Colleton County

The town of Walterboro, South Carolina, was virtually transformed by the production of Radio, as the filmmakers decided to shoot nearly the entire production on location there. For over three months, Hollywood invaded the town...Walterboro and its citizens went all out for the production, getting in to the spirit of making a movie and giving generously of their time and resources.

Combine one of the world’s largest wetland eco-systems, The ACE Basin, with vast rural land, forests, plantations, small towns and old-fashioned Edisto Beach with centrally-located Walterboro and you have pure Carolina Gold.

The Gump Boarding House was actually a set built on the Combahee River. Interiors were shot here and on a stage built in the gymnasium of a vacant school.
